Purple W.I.N.G.S. Organization (PWs) 501 c (3) founded in 2010 is a mentoring agency whose acronym stands for, Women Inspiring Noble Girls Successfully.

Girls participate in weekly two-hour supportive conversation circles, goal setting programs, peer and adult one-on-one mentoring, and a variety of community-based activities.

Purple W.I.N.G.S. girls practice important skills including not limited to: listening to and understanding the viewpoints of others, communicating clearly, thinking critically, and making sound healthy decisions.

Purple W.I.N.G.S. works mainly with girls who are under-resourced (lack economic resources, family support, opportunities) and teens of color. These girls develop social, emotional and intellectual tools to help them create a positive life vision, develop success skills, serve as community role models, and access the resources they need to achieve their goals.

Purple W.I.N.G.S Org. was founded in 2010 by Toshia Shaw, BSHS, MBA an experienced Human Services professional who has vast knowledge working with at-risk youth, battered women, and girls. While interning at a local runaway shelter, which services runaway and homeless youth she noticed the staggering number of homeless and runaway girls entering the program. After extensive conversation with these young girls, she noticed a pattern, which involved the lack of communication and involvement in the lives of these young women by parents and responsible adults. The girls longed for direction, communication, and something to do after school.

Therefore, Toshia started out on a quest to fulfill most of the desires of girls like that of the runaway shelter. She enlisted the help of other professional individuals desiring to make a change in the community.

Purple W.I.N.G.S. definitely fills a void here in Las Vegas. Girls are being ignored and treated as if they are invisible. The effects of living in a hypersexual city can’t be ignored. Girls see their likeness on billboards, in city newspapers, magazines, leaflets, and pamphlets being portrayed as sex objects. They grow up knowing prostitution is legal in brothels only 90 minutes away from here; they understand that while prostitution is illegal within the city limits, there is an allowance of the conduct on the strip. They walk past massage parlors that offer prostitutes right in their own neighborhoods. So where are the options? Where are the safe-havens explicitly for them?

We are ultimately responsible for the youth growing up here in Las Vegas. We are responsible for our city having one of the highest school dropout and teen pregnancy rates in the country.

Therefore, we are going to spread our message and mobile mentorship across the valley. We might not able to change the Las Vegas image, but we will alter that image for our girls!
